what draw weight should i use in a longbow?
i recently bought a traditional homemade longbow. i need help on the weight. im 16 and pretty strong. i have a mathews reezen which i have about a 52-55 pound draw weight on but the let off is realy high. i need to know what an appropriate draw weight would be for me. also how do i determine the draw length.
The draw length should be the same as your compound bow because draw length is based on the length of your arms and not the type of bow.
As for poundage you will just have to go down to a bow shop and try different weights to see where your comfort level is.
You should be able to comfortably bring the bow to full draw and hold it for 8-10 seconds before the lactic acid in your arm starts to burn.
