Copperhead Release
what kind of snake has 2 Parallel yellow stripes down its lenght?

my dogs had it corned in the back i was going to take it and let it go in a park down the street but after looking at it closer i noticed the shape of its head was viper like. im pretty sure its not a copperhead cuz of the coloring but cant be sure and i don't want to release a viper in a suburban area id hate to have to kill it because of my ignorance on the subject. (its a dull dark green with to yellow stripes running its length) and im assuming its native to indiana (central)

Sounds like a Butler's garter snake or an eastern ribbon snake. Neither is dangerous. Copperheads are not striped. They have large light and dark brown patches. No species of venomous North American snake has stripes down its length. It's very thoughtful of you to think twice about killing it just because it's a snake.
